National Night Out Information

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.  Neighborhoods host block parties,  cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

This years parties will be held on Tuesday, August 6th.  We will guarantee that a Dayton Police Officer will respond to the first 15 parties that register. If a Dayton Police Officer is available, they will respond to the remaining registered parties in the City of Dayton.
The Department will be giving out gift bags for the kids that attend your event (For the first 15 parties that register). When you register, please give a count of how many kids will be attending your party.   The host(s) of the parties will pick up the gift bags between Tuesday July 23rd, 2024, and Thursday July 25th, 2024, at the Dayton Police Department.  We also ask that you call the office at 763-427-2017 when you are on your way to pick up items so we can have everything ready to go.
