National Night Out Information
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
NEW PROCESS FOR PARTIES
This year’s parties will be held on Tuesday, August 5th. We will be doing things a bit differently this year. We will hold a lottery for the 15 parties we will guarantee to have a Dayton Police Officer visit. Those chosen parties will also be provided with a gift bag with items for the kids that attend your party. We have a limited number of items so we ask you to try to be as accurate as possible with your guess on how many kids will attend. If a Dayton Police Officer is available, they will respond to some of the remaining registered parties in the City of Dayton. Only those parties chosen in the lottery will be guaranteed an officer and gift bags.
Registration will open March 1st. Those who wish to be included in the lottery drawing must register no later than 5:00 pm on April 15th. The drawing will be held on April 16th and only those parties who are registered by the deadline will be included. When you register, please give a count of how many kids will be attending your party. The host(s) of the parties chosen in the lottery will be notified and will pick up the gift bags between Tuesday July 29th, 2025, and Thursday July 31st, 2025, at the Dayton Police Department. We also ask that you call the office at 763-427-2017 when you are on your way to pick up items so we can have everything ready to go.
If you wish to host a party, please complete the registration form below and register your party today! If you have any questions, contact Officer Dane McAlpine at dmcalpine@daytonpolice.org or call 763-427-2017 .
