The City partnered with Dayton Elementary School to collaborate on a creative legacy art project. Vanessa Andrews, Elementary Art Teacher created a lesson plan on the history of Dayton and wanted to see Dayton through the eyes of her students. In the lesson plan, students were asked to design a light post banner on what they thought represented the City of Dayton after viewing images of parks, neighborhoods and having a brief lesson on the history of Dayton.

The City of Dayton held an Open House event last spring and displayed the banners for residents to vote for their top three designs. The top three banners were selected and are now displayed on the light posts on Balsam Lane. Thank you to all the Dayton Elementary Art Students for your creativity in this project!
